About ELC
PHILOSOPHY
The Emanuel County Pre-K program operates on the belief that the preschool years represent a critical period in a young child’s development, and all children, when exposed to high quality early learning experiences, which promote their optional social, cognitive, emotional, and physical development, will enter school ready to learn.
MISSION STATEMENT
Emanuel County Pre-K prepares children for school by providing high quality early learning environments which focus on the development of social, cognitive, emotional, and physical skills necessary for success in kindergarten. Participation in the Preschool program helps children develop pre-academic and social skills which will increase their chances of a successful school experience.
It is the ELC’s mission to ensure that your child has an exciting and positive start to their educational journey. We have an exceptional, well-trained staff who are not only skilled educators but also compassionate, caring individuals. We believe children are our greatest asset, and we’re honored to help set them on the path to lifelong learning and success.
Our Early Head Start program includes six classrooms led by trained caregivers specializing in infant and toddler care. The program’s school readiness initiative empowers parents to set and support learning goals for their children. Services for children with disabilities are provided through Babies Can’t Wait. Families are also invited to participate in a variety of engagement opportunities throughout the year — from parent workshops to classroom lending libraries.
The Emanuel County Pre-K program is designed to prepare children for kindergarten by fostering verbal communication, curiosity, and a love of learning. Our approach is rooted in understanding how young children learn best — through active engagement, consistent routines, and positive behavior strategies. Currently, we serve families through eight classes in Swainsboro and two in Twin City, with a total of 200 slots available. Registration is first come, first served in the spring, and we follow district guidelines for enrollment.
The Emanuel County Schools Early Learning Center is located within Swainsboro Primary School and houses Pre-K and Early Head Start. There are also two Pre-K classrooms at Twin City Elementary.
