Principal's Message

Dear ELC Families,

I am thrilled to introduce myself as the new Director of the Emanuel County Early Learning Center! It is truly an honor to join this wonderful community, and I am so excited to begin this journey alongside you. As an educator and leader, my heart is in building strong connections — with families, students, and staff — and creating a warm, inclusive environment where every child can thrive.

One of the things I’m most looking forward to is getting to know the incredible families and students of Emanuel County. The ELC is a special place, and I believe that together we can create a vibrant, supportive learning community both inside and outside the classroom. I can’t wait to partner with you as we nurture our youngest learners and help them grow into confident, capable individuals.

The Emanuel County Early Learning Center (ELC) is truly the start of something BIG! We are comprised of Early Head Start, serving children birth to three years old and their families (including pregnant women), and Emanuel County Pre-K, which has two sites: Swainsboro Primary Pre-K and Twin City Elementary Pre-K. Both are ready and eager to serve your child’s educational needs.

It is the ELC’s mission to ensure that your child has an exciting and positive start to their educational journey. We have an exceptional, well-trained staff who are not only skilled educators but also compassionate, caring individuals. We believe children are our greatest asset, and we’re honored to help set them on the path to lifelong learning and success.

Our Early Head Start program includes six classrooms led by trained caregivers specializing in infant and toddler care. The program’s school readiness initiative empowers parents to set and support learning goals for their children. Services for children with disabilities are provided through Babies Can’t Wait. Families are also invited to participate in a variety of engagement opportunities throughout the year — from parent workshops to classroom lending libraries.

The Emanuel County Pre-K program is designed to prepare children for kindergarten by fostering verbal communication, curiosity, and a love of learning. Our approach is rooted in understanding how young children learn best — through active engagement, consistent routines, and positive behavior strategies. Currently, we serve families through eight classes in Swainsboro and two in Twin City, with a total of 242 slots available. Registration is first come, first served, and we follow district guidelines for enrollment.

If you have any questions or would just like to connect, please don’t hesitate to reach out! You can email me at meghan.simonin@emanuel.k12.ga.us, or call 478-237-9593 (Pre-K) or 478-237-3434 (EHS).

Thank you for sharing your children with us — we’re so excited for a wonderful year ahead!

Warmly,
Meghan Simonin
